Weyburn Brewing Company Limited of Weyburn, Saskatchewan was founded by local businessmen in late 1927. They hoped to have an initial capitalization of $200,000 through a stock offering of $25 preferred shares & no par value common shares (maximum value $5) which is approximately $3.6 million in 2025 dollars. This failed to materialize as uptake was very slow. By 1929 they had just under $146,000 in capital or about $2.6 million today. The brewing facility was finally completed and the production of beer began in the last quarter of 1930 using an old time lagering period of 3 months. The beer was well received but there were financial hardships due to the rampant depression which devastated the local economy and in particular beer sales in southern Saskatchewan. Valiant efforts were made in re-branding and offering new products which helped bolster sales but by 1938 the business went into foreclosure.
